Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, visited the Ministry of State Security, the Ministry of Social Security, and the judicial prosecution agencies to encourage officials on the 80th anniversary of the National Security Agency’s founding.

The party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on Wednesday that Kim made a congratulatory visit to the Ministry of State Security the previous day. Jo Yong Won, the party secretary, Kim Hyung Sik, a party director, and Kang Yun Sok, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly, accompanied him.

During his visit, Kim delivered a congratulatory message to the Ministry of State Security. He praised the agency’s loyalty in upholding the party’s security forces and protecting the revolution’s progress. Kim hailed the Republic’s security agency as the party’s reliable companion and steadfast supporter.

The newspaper reported that Kim expressed confidence in the agency’s personnel to continue fulfilling their duties to the party, state, and people. He also took a commemorative photo with them.

Additionally, Kim visited the Ministry of Social Security, congratulating all soldiers of the social security forces on their 80th anniversary. He commended their dedication to the party’s ideology and mission in revolutionary defense, institutional protection, and public security.

Kim lauded the social security forces’ sacrifices in defending the revolution amid intense class struggles. He emphasized their role as the Republic’s second core military power and their unwavering loyalty to the party.

The General Secretary highlighted the crucial mission of the social security forces in supporting the party and government’s efforts to protect the socialist system and enhance public welfare. He highly praised the achievements of all soldiers in the social security forces.

Kim stressed that all members of the social security force must be firmly grounded in the party’s people-first ideology. He called for pure loyalty, patriotic enthusiasm, and unity to strengthen their political, ideological, and combat capabilities while upholding their glorious traditions.

The Ministry of State Security and the Ministry of Social Security that Kim visited are equivalent to intelligence and public security agencies in other countries, serving as North Korea’s secret police and domestic security forces.

On the same day, Kim also visited the Supreme Court and the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, delivering congratulatory messages and encouraging officials. These institutions oversee North Korea’s judicial system: the Supreme Court manages judicial administration and trials, and the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office guides prosecutorial work and supervises law enforcement.

Kim praised the judicial and prosecutorial institutions for their 80-year history of upholding the party’s ideology and developing into powerful law enforcement agencies. He noted their role in establishing popular sovereignty and building a democratic, independent state.

The leader expressed hope that by strengthening the socialist legal system and advancing independent judicial construction, these institutions would continue to achieve significant accomplishments in safeguarding North Korea’s ideology, system, and unity.

While North Korea criticized the U.S.-South Korea summit’s fact sheet the previous day, Kim’s focus on domestic affairs suggests an effort to solidify his power base. His commemoration of the National Security Agency’s 80th anniversary underscores the regime’s emphasis on population control and system reinforcement.
