President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that the U.S. doesn’t require assistance from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies or Indo-Pacific partners like South Korea, Japan, and Australia in countering Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a Truth Social post, Trump revealed that most NATO allies have informed them they won’t participate in military operations against Iran’s terrorist regime in the Middle East.

He noted that despite nearly universal agreement with the actions and the belief that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons, these nations remain hesitant.

Trump expressed no surprise at this response, stating that he has always viewed NATO as a one-way street – it spends billions annually on their protection, yet they offer nothing in return, especially when it needs it most.

The former president boasted that they’ve successfully crippled Iran’s military capabilities. Their naval and air forces are decimated, air defenses neutralized, and most crucially, they’ve eliminated leadership at nearly every level. They no longer pose a threat to us, the Middle Eastern allies, or global security.

Trump asserted that given the military success, NATO’s assistance is neither needed nor desired. In truth, it was never necessary.

Extending his critique to Indo-Pacific allies, Trump added that this applies equally to Japan, Australia, and South Korea. As President of the world’s most formidable nation, he can confidently state that it requires no external support.
