“By strengthening the potential of artificial intelligence (AI), Dreame aims to help more than 30 million users worldwide easily manage their living environments and devote more time to what matters most.”

Zhang Jiahui, head of technology at an Asian smart home appliance brand Dreame, said this in an interview with News1 on the 30th, outlining the company’s future smart home strategy.

Dreame, one of the top global players in the robot vacuum market, has emerged as a rising brand in Asia by setting a new standard for “fully autonomous cleaning” that requires minimal user intervention.

Core robot vacuum technologies are divided into recognition systems (hardware), decision-making systems (software), path planning systems (software), and AI applications (software). Among these, Dreame is considered to have industry-leading hardware-based recognition capabilities.

The company’s newly launched X60 series robot vacuum also represents a comprehensive hardware innovation. It combines active binocular vision technology with active lighting and leverages Dreame’s AI classification algorithms. While traditional robot vacuums passively avoided obstacles, the new model actively recognizes its environment, minimizing the need for user intervention.

“The X60 series can recognize objects, understand situations, and execute cleaning strategies tailored to specific goals,” Zhang said. “While previous models relied on fixed cleaning modes, this new system dynamically adjusts based on environmental awareness, enabling proactive, intelligent and autonomous cleaning.”

“From cleaning tool to cleaning companion”… addressing data privacy concerns

Zhang identified Dreame’s key differentiating technologies as high-speed digital motors, AI algorithms and bionic robotic arm technology.

The high-speed digital motor enhances core cleaning performance, which is fundamental to robot vacuums. Strong suction power is essential for transforming the device from a simple “assistive tool” into a machine capable of replacing human labor, he said.

AI algorithms determine whether a robot vacuum can make intelligent decisions, while robotic arm technology addresses how thoroughly it can clean.

“With the introduction of robotic arms, robot vacuums now have precise manipulation capabilities similar to human hands, fundamentally resolving ‘cleaning blind spots’ that have long been a challenge for the industry,” Zhang said. “This represents a key breakthrough toward fully freeing users’ hands.”

The company has also focused on addressing data security concerns often raised about Asian firms. In December last year, Dreame became the first Asian manufacturer to transfer another Asian user data—previously stored overseas in locations—to domestic data centers.

Following the migration, all data collected from Asian users is stored exclusively on local servers, with no overseas transmission or backup. Access by overseas affiliates or third parties has been blocked, ensuring all data processing and storage occur within the local environment.

At the device level, Dreame has obtained certifications from global organizations UL Solutions and TÜV SÜD, while also applying data encryption systems that comply with European standards.

“High robot vacuum adoption” in Asia raises consumer expectations… intensifying premium competition

Zhang said robot vacuum adoption rates in Asia are already high, with correspondingly elevated consumer expectations—one reason Dreame is focusing heavily on the market.

The company is concentrating on delivering innovative features that enhance convenience and quality of life, particularly in the premium segment.

It has been rapidly strengthening competitiveness in key areas such as sensor technology, AI-based cleaning algorithms and automation features.

“Robot vacuums are evolving from simple tools into intelligent cleaning companions that understand environments and make proactive decisions,” Zhang said. “As these technologies advance, brand awareness and consumer trust are also rising quickly.”

He added, “Dreame will continue to introduce innovative products and services centered on premium offerings, so that cleaning becomes not just a task but a more convenient and enjoyable lifestyle experience for Asian consumers.”

Building a smart home ecosystem… redefining lifestyles through AI

Zhang also outlined Dreame’s ambition to build a smart home ecosystem centered on robot vacuums, redefining lifestyles through AI. The vision focuses on seamlessly connecting smart devices throughout the home.

He emphasized the need to move beyond tools that merely perform basic cleaning functions toward comprehensive home solutions that fundamentally solve problems and fully free users’ hands.

“Based on our accumulated technological capabilities, we aim to lead technological advancement and standard innovation across the home cleaning industry,” Zhang said. “We will redefine industry standards for next-generation electric smart cleaning and help more households enjoy a higher quality of life.”
