It expects that by applying Puzzle artificial intelligence’s (AI) voice-based electronic medical record (EMR) to Daewoong Pharmaceutical and Seers Technology’s technology, it will be able to automatically monitor patient medical records.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical hosted the Daewoong Pharmaceutical Innovare Partners Day (Digital Healthcare) on Tuesday at B-work in Seoul’s Jamsil Dock, in collaboration with Naver and JNPMEDI.

The event drew over 100 attendees and showcased achievements from 13 digital healthcare portfolio companies jointly developed by the three organizations.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical kicked off by unveiling its collaboration with Seers Technology, highlighting their successful partnership as a model between pharmaceutical companies and AI medical startups in digital healthcare, as part of their Digital Number One Strategy.

Subsequent sessions featured corporate presentations on platforms, brain health, and aging. The first session saw Puzzle AI and iCoop introduce their integrated strategies centered on platforms, including voice-based EMR and real-time blood glucose monitoring.

Puzzle AI offers a solution enabling healthcare professionals to create medical records through voice commands, eliminating manual entry. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kim Yong-sik explained that doctors invest excessive time in record-keeping, yet the quality often falls short. The recent healthcare disruptions during conflicts were largely due to inadequate record-keeping.

Kim added that recent research from Seoul National University’s Medical Big Data Research Center indicates that automating medical records could allow Seoul National University Hospital to see 353 more patients daily. While the U.S. has largely addressed this issue with voice recognition EMR, the market is still in its infancy at just 1%. Puzzle AI currently leads the South Korean voice recognition medical record market.

The second session featured Emocog, Silvia Health, Voinosis, and Nanophilia, who presented innovations in brain health, including digital therapeutic devices for mild cognitive impairment, voice-based dementia diagnostics, and cognitive health management solutions. The third session saw Exosystems, TR, MEDI-IoT, and Healcerion outline their expansion strategies, focusing on licensing and co-marketing collaborations.

Exosystems CEO Lee Hu-man, whose company develops digital therapeutics for musculoskeletal disorders, stated that it aimed to create intuitive indicators for neuromuscular clinical assessments, similar to blood glucose or pressure measurements. He demonstrated their medical device during the presentation.

Lee noted that this small sensor can evaluate clinical functions in about three minutes, cutting time and costs of traditional neuromuscular assessments by over 90%. The device has already secured Class 2 digital medical device approval from South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

MEDI-IoT CEO Lee Sang-geun demonstrated their portable eye disease treatment device, which uses four different wavelengths. He emphasized their focus on dry eye syndrome and dry age-related macular degeneration.

Lee highlighted that once approved, MEDI-IoT will be the world’s second company in this field, but the first globally with a portable product capable of providing treatment in just two minutes, regardless of time and location.

The musculoskeletal session featured presentations from OrthoCare, developing musculoskeletal digital therapeutics, MyBenefit, offering customized digital healthcare exercise solutions, and BeauBrain Healthcare, specializing in early dementia diagnosis and management.

JNPMEDI CEO Jeong Kwon-ho concluded the event by sharing insights on Digital Healthcare Clinical Trial Strategies. He outlined key considerations for portfolio companies, stressing that without meticulous licensing and pricing strategies, market entry is impossible.

The event culminated in one-on-one deep dive meetings between companies and investors, facilitating specific investment discussions and strategic collaboration opportunities. Daewoong Pharmaceutical plans to support follow-up investments in promising ventures and strengthen partnerships that drive tangible business outcomes.
