NVP Healthcare said it signed an exclusive licensing and ingredient supply agreement with Brazilian pharmaceutical and healthcare company Marjan Farma for its probiotic ingredient NVP-1702.

The agreement was signed at the BIO International Convention 2026 (BIO USA) in San Diego.

Under the agreement, Marjan Farma will develop and commercialize finished products containing NVP-1702 in Brazil, while NVP Healthcare will serve as the exclusive supplier of the ingredient and provide technical and regulatory support.

NVP-1702 is a proprietary multi-strain probiotic ingredient developed by NVP Healthcare. It consists of two strains: Lactobacillus plantarum LC27 and Bifidobacterium longum LC67.

According to the company, NVP-1702 has received individual functional ingredient approval from South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for improving alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver damage. Clinical trials involving adults with alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver injury also demonstrated improvements in liver function markers, including ALT, AST and gamma-glutamyl transferase (γ-GTP).

The company said it has secured patents for NVP-1702 in 34 countries, including the United States, Japan, Europe and Brazil, and is preparing to submit an investigational new drug (IND) application for a Phase 2 clinical trial to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

NVP Healthcare said the agreement establishes a foothold for expansion into Brazil and the broader Latin American market.

“This agreement marks an important milestone in the global commercialization strategy for NVP-1702,” a company official said. “Using Brazil as a regional hub, we plan to explore expanding our business across the broader Latin American market.”

At this year’s BIO USA, the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association expanded partnerships with major global bio clusters and overseas biotechnology organizations in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Japan and Taiwan to help create a more favorable environment for Korean pharmaceutical and biotech companies seeking international expansion.

The association also discussed measures to systematically support overseas expansion, including joint exhibition programs, collaborative initiatives and broader business networking. It also held meetings with Biocom California, a leading U.S. life sciences cluster, and BioCentury, organizer of the East-West Biopharma Summit, to discuss future cooperation programs.
