Huons announced on Friday that two non-clinical research results from its in-house drug development program have been selected as Late-Breaking Abstracts (LBA).
LBAs are special presentation sessions designed to showcase cutting-edge research findings expected to have a significant impact on the scientific community.
Huons’ digestive disease treatment candidate was chosen for an LBA at UEG Week 2026, while its obesity treatment candidate received the same distinction at Obesity Week 2026.
This month, Huons is set to present non-clinical research results for its First-in-Class drug candidate targeting digestive diseases at UEG Week 2026, the European Gastroenterology conference.
First-in-Class refers to novel drugs that target new pathways or employ mechanisms of action different from existing approved therapies. While this approach signifies innovation, it doesn’t guarantee successful development or superior efficacy compared to current treatments.
UEG Week is a premier global conference where the latest advancements in digestive diseases, from basic research to clinical applications, are presented. This year’s event is scheduled for October 17-20 in Barcelona, Spain.
Huons plans to unveil innovative drugs that employ new therapeutic approaches to address the limitations of existing treatments.
With this LBA selection, Huons will have the opportunity to introduce the key non-clinical research outcomes and development potential of its candidates to an international audience of researchers. Specific research details and data will be disclosed at the time of presentation, in accordance with the conference’s embargo policy.
In November, Huons will present non-clinical research results for its next-generation oral obesity drug candidate at Obesity Week 2026 in the U.S.
Obesity Week, organized by the American Obesity Society, is a global conference that highlights the latest findings in obesity-related basic science, translational research, drug development, and clinical studies. This year’s event will take place in Washington, D.C., from November 14-17.
Huons’ obesity research aims to develop candidates with novel treatment strategies that set them apart from existing obesity therapies. The LBA selection will allow the company to share key non-clinical research results with the scientific community at the conference.
These two conference presentations mark the beginning of Huons’ efforts to expand global awareness of its innovative drug research results.
The company is currently advancing its next-generation obesity Target research and is also exploring new Target and candidate discoveries in the central nervous system (CNS) disease field. As research progresses, Huons plans to unveil key non-clinical results at domestic and international conferences.
Clinical development of the company’s pipeline is progressing well. A new drug for dry eye syndrome is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials, while a lung cancer treatment candidate is undergoing non-clinical toxicity testing. The lung cancer treatment is targeted to enter Phase 1 clinical trials in the first half of next year, following the completion of non-clinical development.
Dr. Park Kyung-mi, Vice President of Research and Development (R&D) at Huons, stated that the LBA selections provide a significant platform to showcase the innovative drug research to the global scientific community. It will rigorously evaluate the scientific differentiation and development potential of each candidate while continuing the research in obesity and CNS fields. The goal is to expand our pipeline through to the clinical stage in a balanced manner.
