ViGenCell is advancing its entry into the Japanese regenerative medicine market, leveraging its cell therapy’s clinical successes and real-world patient treatment experiences.

The company announced on Wednesday that it will participate in BioJapan 2026, scheduled from October 7 to 9 at Pacifico Yokohama. There, ViGenCell aims to explore business collaboration opportunities with global pharmaceutical and biotech firms.

The spotlight of ViGenCell’s presentation will be VC-101, its cell therapy under development for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) positive lymphoma patients. Key findings from the Phase 2 clinical trials and four-year follow-up data were presented at this year’s American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and European Hematology Association (EHA) conferences.

ViGenCell reports that VC-101 is the first in South Korea to receive approval for an advanced regenerative medicine treatment plan. Patient treatment and enrollment commenced last month. The company intends to highlight its comprehensive experience from clinical development through to treatment implementation.

In addition to VC-101, ViGenCell will showcase its V-Cell Center, a facility adhering to its proprietary cell processing, good manufacturing practice (GMP), and quality control standards. The company will also present its pipeline projects, including VC-302 for glioblastoma and VC-420 for hepatocellular carcinoma.

The company disclosed that a delegation from Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) conducted an on-site inspection of the V-Cell Center last month.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gi Pyeong-seok emphasized that its unique strength lies in the end-to-end experience from development to clinical application. He added that to expedite the realization of VC-101’s potential, it’s pursuing multiple strategies concurrently, including technology transfer and direct market entry through Japan’s advanced regenerative medicine regulatory framework.

BioJapan 2026, Asia’s premier biotechnology exhibition, has been an annual fixture since 1986. This year’s event is expected to draw over 22,000 attendees from the global biotech sector.
