Waycen, a medical artificial intelligence (AI) company, showcased its AI endoscopy solution Waymed Endo at the 2026 UEG Week in Barcelona, Spain, from October 17-20. The company reported on November 23 that their presentation garnered significant attention from global medical professionals.

UEG Week is Europe’s largest gastroenterology conference, bringing together gastroenterologists, medical device firms, and researchers worldwide to share cutting-edge research and medical technologies in gastrointestinal diseases. This year’s event highlighted AI-driven endoscopic diagnostic technology as a key focus area, sparking lively discussions on related innovations.

At the exhibition, Waycen emphasized their core message, Not Only Detection, demonstrating how AI endoscopy technology is advancing beyond lesion detection to include lesion classification and polyp size measurement.

The Waycen booth attracted a steady stream of gastroenterologists and medical industry professionals from various countries, including Europe. Visitors showed keen interest in the real-time lesion detection feature, as well as technologies for analyzing lesion characteristics and measuring polyp size. They shared diverse perspectives on potential clinical applications.

Lesion detection involves identifying suspicious areas in endoscopic images, while lesion classification analyzes the shape and features of detected lesions to categorize them. Polyps, which are tissue protrusions on the mucosal surface of organs like the stomach or colon, may require different treatment and follow-up approaches based on their size and histological characteristics.

Waymed Endo, Waycen’s flagship product, is an AI software medical device that analyzes gastric and colon endoscopy images in real-time to detect abnormal lesions. Compatible with existing endoscopic equipment, it assists medical professionals in identifying lesions and improves the quality of endoscopic examinations.

Waycen noted that the conference confirmed a global shift in AI endoscopy market interest. The focus is expanding from simple lesion detection to technologies that support healthcare providers’ clinical judgment. The company plans to refine its technology based on feedback from medical professionals and explore business opportunities in the global market, including Europe.

Kim Kyung-nam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Waycen, stated that the AI endoscopy market is evolving beyond simple lesion detection to analyze lesion characteristics and support clinicians’ decision-making. It will continue to demonstrate the clinical value through differentiated technology and expand the presence in global markets, including Europe.
