Goalkeeper Vozinha (40), who led Cape Verde’s stunning run in the 2026 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) North and Central America World Cup, is set to join Chilean powerhouse Colo-Colo.
Reuters reported on July 25 that Colo-Colo’s owner, Aníbal Mosa, confirmed reaching an agreement with Vozinha for the transfer.
Mosa stated that Vozinha is expected to arrive in Chile soon for a medical examination, and if all goes well, he will officially join Colo-Colo.
Local media sources indicate that Vozinha’s contract with Colo-Colo will span 18 months.
After his contract with Portuguese second-tier club Chaves expired last season, Vozinha shot to stardom with his heroic performances in the World Cup, propelling Cape Verde to the Round of 32.
Vozinha’s stellar goalkeeping helped Cape Verde secure a 0-0 draw against reigning champions Spain in the group stage, before narrowly falling 2-3 to runners-up Argentina in a thrilling extra-time battle in the Round of 32.
At 40 years old, Vozinha’s impressive showing earned him the top spot in the goalkeeper category of the North and Central America World Cup Dream Team, garnering 39.6% of the fan vote.
The goalkeeper’s social media following skyrocketed from around 50,000 before the tournament to nearly 30 million.
Colo-Colo is a storied club with a record 34 Chilean league titles. They also made history in 1991 by becoming the first Chilean team to clinch the Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club competition.
