Jennie of Blackpink made history as the first Korean female solo artist to headline a major U.S. music festival, taking the stage at Lollapalooza Chicago.
According to her agency, OA Entertainment, Jennie delivered the closing performance on the Bud Light Stage at Grant Park, Chicago, on August 1.
During her hour-long set, Jennie captivated the audience with about 18 songs. She breathed new life into her solo tracks, rearranging them to span various genres and moods, creating a dynamic show that resonated with the crowd.
The pop star also treated fans to the live debut of her latest single “Less than a Lover,” released on July 24. The audience’s enthusiastic sing-along created an electric atmosphere.
In a surprise move, Jennie unveiled an unreleased track, sending the crowd into a frenzy of cheers.
Since her 2016 debut with Blackpink, Jennie has been part of chart-topping hits like “Whistle,” “Playing with Fire,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Shut Down,” and “Run.” She launched her solo career in 2018 with “Solo,” followed by her first full-length album “Ruby” last year, and most recently, “Less than a Lover.”
Fans can catch Jennie next at Japan’s Summer Sonic 2023, where she’s scheduled to perform in Tokyo on August 14 and Osaka on August 16.
