The Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system reported that as of Monday, the film had amassed a staggering 9,034,503 viewers. This impressive feat propels Spider-Man: Brand New Day past Iron Man 3’s previous record of 9.01 million, cementing its place as the top-performing MCU solo film in South Korean history.
The web-slinger’s latest outing isn’t just dominating locally; it’s also spinning a global success story. With an estimated 2.4 billion USD in worldwide box office receipts, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has outpaced its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home (1.9 billion USD), to claim the crown as the highest-grossing MCU solo film globally.
Riding this wave of success, the film is set for an IMAX re-release. From September 30 to October 6, fans can experience the spectacle in five select theaters: CGV Centum City, Sopoong, Wangsimni, Cheonan Terminal, and Cheongho.
The plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up in the aftermath of No Way Home, with Peter Parker grappling with a world that has forgotten him. As he confronts a mysterious foe who inexplicably remembers his secret identity, Peter must also contend with newfound, uncontrollable powers resulting from a DNA mutation.
