Seventeen’s management has announced that legal action against professional ticket scalpers has resulted in prison sentences and fines exceeding 1 billion KRW (approximately 736,000 USD).
On Monday, Pledis Entertainment, the group’s agency, posted an update on Seventeen’s official fan community platform, Weverse, stating that it wants to provide information about ongoing legal proceedings as of the third quarter of 2026.
The agency revealed that they’ve been working closely with law enforcement to catch and prosecute professional scalpers who have been illegally reselling the artists’ concert tickets. As a result, some of the recently apprehended scalpers have been sentenced to prison terms of 1 year and 8 months and 1 year and 4 months, along with combined fines totaling over 1 billion KRW (approximately 736,000 USD).
They added that investigations into other professional scalpers, particularly those operating internationally, are ongoing, and it’s fully cooperating with authorities. It will continue to pursue and take severe action against illegal ticket reselling by professional scalpers without leniency.
The agency also mentioned that based on collected evidence, they’ve filed lawsuits against individuals who posted malicious content, and several cases are currently going through legal proceedings. Notably, in a recent case involving malicious defamation against our artists, the defendant was fined 2 million KRW (approximately 1,500 USD) in the initial trial.
Pledis Entertainment further stated that the defendant has appealed the ruling, and the appeal process is underway. It will continue to pursue appropriate punishment for the defendant throughout the appeals process.
