Cartoonist Kian84 recently sat down with Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise for an exclusive interview.
A video capturing their encounter was uploaded to the YouTube channel “Life84” on Wednesday afternoon.
Kian84 scored the coveted interview with Cruise, who was in South Korea promoting his latest blockbuster, The Dig (directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu), which hit theaters on October 3. In a humorous twist, Kian84 revealed his frantic last-minute attempts to brush up on his English before the big meeting.
When a staff member reassured him he could switch to Korean if needed, Kian84 quipped that he has been cramming! He spent an hour this morning studying, and even got tutoring from an elementary school kid. His confidence drew chuckles from the crew.
However, when the cameras started rolling, Kian84’s carefully practiced English introduction quickly gave way to Korean. Cruise, ever the charming professional, responded with an encouraging smile to Kian84’s obvious nervousness. The Hollywood A-lister was particularly impressed by a hand-drawn gift from Kian84, exclaiming, This is incredible! – a moment that became an instant highlight of the interview.
The Dig, Cruise’s latest venture, promises to be a thrilling disaster epic. The plot revolves around a seemingly minor crack in a Greenland glacier drilling facility, owned by a third-generation oil dynasty, which spirals into a global catastrophe of unprecedented proportions.
