As the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party enters its sixth day, North Korea seems ready to adopt a final decision document after extensive deliberations across various sectors. The regime continues to maintain secrecy regarding its foreign policy.

On Tuesday, the party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that sector-specific research and discussion sessions were held on the previous day, marking the sixth day of the Congress.

According to the newspaper, members of the party’s central leadership, including those from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, are overseeing discussions and research in key areas such as the economy, national defense, foreign affairs, and party operations. This process appears to be aimed at fine-tuning the final wording for the Congress’s decision document.

The newspaper detailed that each discussion session focused on deepening dialogue about sectoral and unit-level strategies and plans, guided by the core principles outlined in Kim Jong Un’s comprehensive report on the work of the 8th Central Committee.

These discussions emphasized ensuring scientific and innovative approaches in implementing the overarching goals and principles of the five-year strategy proposed by the 9th Congress throughout the nation’s socialist construction efforts.

The newspaper highlighted that the research and discussion sessions specifically addressed practical measures to achieve gradual qualitative development. This includes solidifying the progress made during the 8th term (2021-2025) across all sectors of the national economy, with a particular focus on heavy industry.

Additionally, the newspaper reported on discussions about coordinating efforts across various sectors to vigorously promote technological renovation and modernization projects. These initiatives are seen as crucial for bolstering the self-reliance of the national economy. The talks also covered the construction of the capital and local development projects, which are among the party’s highest priorities.

The newspaper noted that the outcomes of these discussions are being compiled by the Drafting Committee for the Congress Decision Document. However, no information was disclosed regarding the discussions on foreign policy direction.

It is anticipated that North Korea will soon finalize the Congress’s decision document and reveal its key points, followed by military parades and other commemorative events related to the Congress.
