EZCaretech is accelerating its overseas expansion after winning a major hospital information system (HIS) project in Saudi Arabia and gaining recognition for its technology in global markets. The company is also stepping up its strategy to develop AI-powered healthcare platforms as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the global healthcare IT market.
According to industry sources on Aug. 4, EZCaretech recently signed a contract worth approximately $6.93 million with National Medical Care Co. (CareMed), one of Saudi Arabia’s three largest private healthcare groups, to implement its next-generation hospital information system, BestCare 2.0.
The project will cover four hospitals and two clinics operated by CareMed, with a combined capacity of about 1,300 beds. The deal is considered significant because it expands EZCaretech’s business into the private healthcare market, following projects that have primarily focused on public healthcare institutions such as the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA) and Royal Commission medical centers.
A hospital information system is core digital infrastructure that manages hospital operations ranging from registration and consultations to prescriptions, testing, billing and medical records. Given the scale of the project, industry observers expect the implementation to potentially lead to maintenance and operations contracts, providing a stable source of long-term revenue.
EZCaretech’s technological capabilities have already gained recognition in global markets. The company was recently named a “Niche Player” in Gartner’s 2026 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Electronic Health Records (EHR). It was the first South Korean healthcare IT company to be included and the first company headquartered outside the United States to receive the designation, according to the company.
EZCaretech said Gartner recognized its capabilities in AI, system hosting and healthcare information interoperability, while its experience in projects including Saudi Arabia’s healthcare data integration initiative and South Korea’s digitalization of private health insurance claims was also cited as a strength.
EZCaretech is pursuing a transformation from a conventional HIS provider into an AI platform company.
The company is developing an “AI-native HIS” that integrates AI into existing hospital information systems to support clinical care, nursing, patient monitoring and clinical decision support systems (CDSS). In the longer term, it aims to build a “Medical OS” encompassing hospital operations as a whole.
To this end, EZCaretech is working with digital healthcare company Huino on AI-based clinical decision support and wearable monitoring solutions. It is also developing an AI smart ward platform with Selvas AI and Mediana.
At the 2025 EZCaretech Fall Technology Seminar held at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 24th, Lee Ki-hyuk, head of business operations, delivered a keynote presentation titled “At the Center of the Healthcare Ecosystem: Challenges and Opportunities for Hospital Information Systems and Their Future Direction.”
The goal is to build an integrated platform that connects each company’s AI technologies with patient monitoring devices and electronic medical records (EMR) to support healthcare professionals in their work.
Industry observers expect the importance of HIS to grow as AI-powered healthcare services expand, given its role in connecting medical data with hospital workflows. Demand for AI-based healthcare platforms is also expected to increase alongside the government’s push for digital transformation in healthcare.
“Healthcare information system companies in South Korea are increasingly moving beyond simply supplying software to expand their business models into AI platforms and data-driven services,” an industry source said. “For AI technologies to be effectively deployed in real-world healthcare settings, the role of HIS in integrating medical data with hospital workflows will become increasingly important.”
Meanwhile, EZCaretech plans to hold an investor relations (IR) briefing on the 11th, where it will disclose its results, including operating profit at a record-high level, as well as its Medical OS strategy based on AI-native HIS and plans to expand its business in the Middle East.
