Rebellions, an artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor startup, unveiled its next-generation AI chip architecture, REBEL-Quad, at International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) 2026, widely regarded as the Semiconductor Olympics and the world’s most prestigious semiconductor design conference.

On Thursday, Rebellions announced that it had presented a paper on REBEL-Quad’s technology at the ISSCC 2026 and successfully completed a live demonstration in a real-world setting.

REBEL-Quad is South Korea’s first Big Chip AI semiconductor, offering performance comparable to global flagship graphic processing units (GPUs). It employs an advanced chiplet architecture, optimizing flexible scalability and production efficiency for handling massive AI workloads.

As Rebellions’s second-generation AI chip following the 2024 release of ATOM, REBEL-Quad incorporates fifth-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM3E), delivering superior inference performance and energy efficiency compared to current top-tier GPUs.

To overcome the reticle limit, a physical constraint in chip manufacturing, Rebellions designed REBEL-Quad to link four chiplets into a single unit. This approach resolves low yield issues associated with monolithic chip production, maximizing efficiency while ensuring cost-effectiveness in high-performance computing.

At the conference, Rebellions conducted a live demonstration of the actual REBEL-Quad. This showcase went beyond theoretical metrics, addressing real-world variables in system operation and demonstrating production-grade quality to industry experts.

Oh Jin-wook, Rebellions’s Chief Technology Officer, stated that REBEL-Quad’s readiness for commercialization signifies a major milestone. They’re accelerating mass production and proof-of-concept projects with global clients, positioning South Korea at the forefront of AI semiconductor innovation on the world stage.
