Spider-Man: Brand New Day (hereafter referred to as Spider-Man 4) has swung past the 6 million viewer mark in South Korea.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system, Spider-Man 4 web-slinged its way to over 6 million cumulative viewers on Monday morning, just 13 days after its theatrical debut.
This impressive feat outpaces even the blockbuster Spring in Seoul, which took 18 days to reach the 10 million viewer milestone earlier this year. Spider-Man 4 has now overtaken The Collective (5.95 million viewers) to claim the second spot at the 2024 South Korean box office. The current champion remains The King’s Man, released in February, which drew a staggering 16.91 million viewers.
Spider-Man 4 continues the saga of Peter Parker, whose identity was wiped from public memory following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, he faces a mysterious foe who inexplicably remembers his secret, while grappling with uncontrollable new powers from a DNA mutation. As chaos deepens around him, Peter must confront fresh dangers to protect those he holds dear in this high-octane superhero spectacle.
The star-studded cast features Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jacob Batalon. At the helm is Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed the Marvel hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
