North Korea emphasized ideological fortification among its citizens as it approaches its year-end review and the anticipated 9th Workers’ Party Congress, expected to convene early next year for the first time in five years.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, featured a front-page editorial on November 3 titled “Let’s Accelerate the Revolution through Ideological Power.” It urged the nation to “continue raising the banner of ideology-first policy and intensify the ideological campaign” to elevate the revolutionary fervor, patriotism, and fighting spirit of the entire populace, propelling them from one victory to even greater triumphs.

The newspaper asserted that in the current phase of comprehensive national revitalization, marked by significant achievements and a transition to the next stage of governance, “what we desperately need is nothing but the power of ideology.” It stressed that ideology wields an unparalleled force at this pivotal moment of new development and prosperity.

The publication emphasized that “our party’s foundation is the absolute ideological and spiritual superiority of the people.” It argued that amplifying ideological power is key to thwarting the “malicious intentions of hostile forces” that impede national and public progress, and to solidifying the prosperous era they’ve created.

The editorial declared that the “fundamental task of party work is to unify the entire party and society under the central revolutionary ideology.” It mandated that all cadres must “thoroughly implement our party’s ideology-first policy not just in words, but throughout all aspects of their work.”
