Hyundai Motor’s new Tucson surpassed 15,000 orders on its first day of sales, setting a record for the highest first-day order volume in the model’s history.

Hyundai said on the 22nd that its new compact SUV, the All-New Tucson, received a total of 15,045 orders on its first day of sales.

The figure exceeds the 10,842 orders recorded on the first day of sales for the fourth-generation Tucson, which launched in September 2020. The All-New Tucson is the model’s fifth-generation redesign, unveiled six years after its predecessor, with major improvements to its design, interior space, driving performance, and safety and convenience features.

Hyundai attributed the strong initial response to the vehicle’s rugged, bold design, more spacious interior and expanded digital experience. The company also said that equipping the base trim with many customer-preferred features and adding more advanced technologies to higher trims helped drive demand.

Among the available trims, the top-of-the-line Inspiration accounted for the largest share of orders at 44%. The entry-level H-Pick accounted for 33%, the midlevel Exclusive for 22%, and the XRT, which builds on the Exclusive with exclusive design elements, for 1%.

Notably, the share of customers choosing the Inspiration trim rose 15 percentage points, from 29% for the previous Tucson to 44%. The Inspiration comes standard with a Pleos Connect system featuring a 17-inch display, Highway Driving Assist 2 and dual wireless smartphone charging, along with other advanced features.

The increased share of orders for the entry-level H-Pick was another key development. Hyundai enhanced the trim’s value by making Pleos Connect and over-the-air software updates standard and upgrading its safety and convenience features.

By powertrain, the hybrid’s share of orders rose seven percentage points, from 48% for the previous Tucson to 55%, overtaking the gasoline model.

The hybrid features Hyundai Motor Group’s next-generation hybrid system, improving both maximum output and fuel economy. The gasoline model also delivers enhanced driving performance, with a larger turbocharger that increases maximum output by 13 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The All-New Tucson is priced at approximately $20,900 for the H-Pick, $23,500 for the Exclusive, $25,300 for the Inspiration and $24,500 for the XRT, based on the gasoline model. Hybrid prices are approximately $24,100 for the H-Pick, $26,600 for the Exclusive, $28,500 for the Inspiration and $27,800 for the XRT. Hybrid prices reflect applicable tax benefits.

A Hyundai representative said, “The All-New Tucson is an attractive model that combines bold design and a spacious interior with a high level of features starting from the base trim. We will continue to put customers first and deliver greater value.”
