Lee Kang-in (25) of Atlético Madrid netted his second league goal, spearheading his team’s dominant victory. Spanish media lauded his exceptional performance, dubbing it his most complete game since joining Atlético Madrid.
Lee started in the home fixture against Osasuna on Thursday at the Cívitas Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain. The match was part of the sixth round of the 2023-24 La Liga season, and Lee found the back of the net in the 54th minute.
Propelled by Lee’s stellar display, Atlético Madrid demolished Osasuna 4-0.
At the 54-minute mark, Lee capitalized on Jonathan David’s pass inside the penalty area, rifling a precise right-footed shot into the far corner of the goal.
This marked Lee’s second league goal, following his debut strike in the season opener against Málaga on August 20 (a 2-0 victory).
Post-match, Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo reported that Lee extended the scoring streak of Atlético’s new signings with another spectacular goal.
The publication noted that while Lee had been somewhat goal-shy recently, he possesses both the burning desire and the requisite skills to succeed at Atlético.
They particularly praised the goal, highlighting the exquisite team play involving Alex Baena, Ademola Lookman, and David.
Mundo Deportivo further emphasized Lee’s role as a vibrant Korean midfielder who aims to spread joy, noting that he not only scored but also came close to setting up two more goals, solidifying his position as a key player for the team.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque also assessed players from both sides, awarding Lee the team-high score of 9.
The publication highlighted Lee’s speed and precision in link-up play from the right flank, noting his direct runs from wide positions to unleash long-range efforts.
El Desmarque declared this Lee’s most complete performance since his arrival at the Metropolitano (Atlético’s home ground). They lauded his goal, which originated from his own interception and culminated in a superb right-footed finish inside the penalty area.
They added that if not for two spectacular saves by Osasuna goalkeeper Aitor Fernández, Lee would have completed a hat-trick, further underlining his impressive display.
Lee has now tallied 2 goals and 1 assist in six appearances this season across all competitions. His standout performance earned him the official Man of the Match (MOM) accolade from La Liga’s governing body.
Football analytics site Footmob also recognized Lee’s brilliance, awarding him the game’s highest rating of 9.0 and naming him the match’s standout performer.
