On Tuesday, the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) reiterated its policy of self-reliance, stating through state media that it can depend only on its strength.

The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers’ Party of Korea, reported that hostile forces led by the United States continue attempts to suppress the DPRK. It claimed that joint military drills on land, in the air, and at sea were part of efforts to obstruct the nation’s development and sovereignty.

In a commentary on page 6, the newspaper stated that the Korean War had revealed who defends peace and who undermines it, asserting that U.S. imperialism has come to be seen globally as the main instigator of conflict.

Page 2 urged citizens to embody the spirit of national defense from the 1950s, presenting it as a core ideological force that sustains the tradition and identity of a heroic Korea.

On page 3, Rodong Sinmun described a housewarming ceremony held at Sinhung Farm in Chongdan County, South Hwanghae Province, portraying the new homes as a product of the Workers’ Party’s benevolence. The article also emphasized the importance of effective on-site political engagement, encouraging citizens to embody the spirit of national defense that emerged in the 1950s, presenting it as a core ideological force that sustains the tradition and identity of a heroic Korea.

Page 4 covered youth and student gatherings framed as vows of retaliation. The report claimed that the United States and South Korean authorities’ frenzied, confrontational stance was fueling widespread public anger, particularly among young people.

Also on page 4, the newspaper reported the opening of an art exhibition on class education, and mentioned that mobile lectures were actively taking place at class education centers throughout the country to instill ideological awareness.

Page 5 forecasted that the monsoon season would begin on Friday, about 15 days earlier than usual. It also highlighted news of successful wheat and barley harvests in rural regions, which it said had brought joy to local communities.

Finally, the paper called for an increased focus on educational science to improve national academic standards and encouraged local governments to incorporate regional characteristics into their construction and development initiatives.
